Tribes RPG through firewall????HELP!
No one has probably noticed but Necroplanet
has dissappeared. The problem is my machine
is now behind a firewall. I have tried opening
ports 28001, and 28000 and when I start
my dedicated I can see
packets going through on 28000 bound for the tribes
master servers. But no one can see my server.
I am running Redhat with a shorewall firewall,
Any admins out there running through a firewall???
Any help appreciated.

Open all ports. Then, see if it works. If so, it's a port. If not, it's something on your side...
Also, you DID click the register with master server button, right?

If you mean the box that says
"Check to make sure this server is visible to the public."
It was already checked by default.
And the weird thing is in my lan I can see my server in the server list(obviously because they are on the same hub)
but I can also see outside servers, even connect to them and play.
Can you run a dedicated server with a spoofed IP?
What other ports need to be made available?
We have set the FW rulse to accept inbound and outbound
UDP traffic, But it seems to also rely on ICMP for some reason.
I could not be pinged unti I turned off the ICMP filter.
Now I can ping my server across the net, but server not getting through :(((((
This is soooo crappy. Stupid firewall.

Yeah, without ICMP, it won't work. Hmm, do you have a real IP on the comp, or is it local only?(as in, 10.x.x.x, or 192.x.x.x) It sounds like it's not sending the correct Ip to the master server or something.

I think that opening the ports is not enough. You have to forward those ports from the firewall to the machine that's hosting the server. If you have a linksys router or something similar, you can do that through the web interface. If you're using a linux machine as a router, i think u can use ipfw for the port forwarding.
You could also put the machine in the dmz, but i wouldn't do that

Put DMZ on the server if you have a router like I do...
