I dont really think his parents would buy him a computer just for a social studies project. But you can easily buy some parts and make a crappy computer that just has a lot of RAM. And you need a good connection too. I would gladly help admin your server, too.

actually you would be surprised what idiotic parents would buy for their kids in the computer area.

We've offered Matty a server many times. If we could put the NQ characters back on it it might be worthwhile. It's not the comp that's expensive, it's the T1 line.

YES! We DO miss him. Hope he is doing ok. Got on to MN the other day with a bunch of the old NQ folks and felt really sad that FOAD wasn't there. Silly as it sounds, I STILL treasure that set of full plate armor he gave me. FOAD rocks.

w00t! I made Xanth post!

We've got ADSL - one line with a router to 5 comps in the house, including 2 home office comps. IF we're gonna do this, we wanna do it right, that means T1 line (at minimum). Service is stable enough here (with enough competition) that I think we can do it. A little pricey...but we've been tossing it around since his old Tribes clan days. Thanks for the input! Matty's already thinking up server names. (Mom rolls eyes).
