connection to server error

i am new to the game, i just downloaded it recently, the fulll version and the update. i installed the full version, and could somebody tell me where to install the update to? does it go in the RPG subfolder? that seems most logical, but my pc freezes up whenever i almost join a server. it might seem like another problem that popped up in the past, but i have the official base version.i know it sounds kinda whiny, but step-by-step instructions on how to start playing after you install the download would be cool.

freeze on load means your os doesnt handle high memory loads well, most people with your problem lose the connection at that point, your problemis most likely not enough memory, how much ya got? say over 128 and disregard wht ive got posted.

I dont think thats your problem,
I connect no problem and i have a p2 266 with 96 megs of ram
and no 3d video card.

sounds like something installed wrong

win 2000, 400 MHz pentium processor, 56k modem, 40x cd, 8 gig har drive, 96 megs ram, voodoo3 3000 video

nehr youre special.

tribes needs about 5 to 15 meg, windows needs about 30 and trpg loasd like 60 megs of models....

I have 64 megs of RAM and a 2mb vid card (factory installed one) and I don't have any problem..

well bugger
im getting the same problem, i go to join any RPGMOD server and the computer locks up at some point (maybe i should clean up my C: a bit? ill try it and update on how it goes)

i could log on fine last night, but there were alot less people on, ill post my system specs at the end of this, any other suggestions tho?

like i said, my problem just went away after i logged onto an uncrowded server and then i could get on from then on. also a good defragging helped too. thats all the advice i have. sorry if it doesn't work
