it will just be easier this way, we might be trying to split it all up a little too much.
and the flaming forum will take about 97% of the threads anyways.....

Yea I used to do that too but:

Aleman: word means German in Spanish

Alaric: I have no clue

In reality when you yell aleman you are really yelling GERMAN!

I hate that!
We should say the name of a language (and a country) the exact same way THEY say it.

Like german should be called Deutch, not german.
and enslish (in french) should be english, not this anglais crap.

JI: I can say francais fine, and if people were BROUGHT UP saying it, it wouldn't be such a problem

I dont know, I just think it shows a little more respect to a language/ethnic group if you at least use THEIR name for their language, instead of your own.

I speak Spanish, some French and some German, and try to do so with sensitivity and adherance to the different "accents" required of each.

My dad speaks over 7 languages. (Talk about creative swearing!) It would be hard to place him as an "american".

When we lived in Europe, most of the Americans there had no problem calling everything by the American version... usually in grossly broad-accented English. The tolerant countries they visited had no problem calling the Americans "ugly."

That system seemed to work just fine.

i speak one language, finnish, and I also "speak"(vevi patli) english, swedish and german. This vast amount of linguistic knowledge has heighted my consciousness to new heights where I ponder the unsolven enigmas of the world with new resources.
