Further info on Mogs Post to Apache and Newbie

my name on B&N is Valeist and as Mog said i am having severe trouble getting on the server. I was playing on it earlier and i lost the connection to the server. well i refreshed and the status was at the red circle with line going through it. so i refreshed all once more. this time the server did not come up. i have tried everything to be able to at least see it but nothing works.

I have another computer that is networked with the one i play on and when i refresh all the lists the server is there (i cant play on that computer, something wrong with it, oh and i tried what you said Mog.) but on the computer im having problems with it still isnt there. i have even tried to reinstall tribes and that didnt help either. So then i went into the IRC chat rooms and tried to get shazbot to give me an IP link. everytime i do so he enters an extra :20001(if i dont put in the port#) or an extra :01(if i do). and when i click on that it says "This server needs a password". I have tried everything so if anyone can help please do! How is that an afro smiley anyway? i dont see it. it looks like a smiley falling in a hole to me. (oh and the reason i asked mog to post for me was because at the time i had not recieved the email for activation and didnt know i needed to) sorry Mog

well.. okay umm.. lemme get B&N's ip really quick... there are several ways to do this.. but ill go with simplest, aright go to the join screen where you refresh for his server dont refresh hit the button that looks like this ~ aright then type connect("IP:24.158.141.29:6969"); then hit enter then ~ button again...

umm that works.. but the port # on it is REALLY strange for what it supposed to be around witch is 28008 or somethin like that..

your idea did not twister (possibly i did it wrong) but i tried something else, i put the GameServList.CS file on a floppy disk and deleted the on for the computer and copied from the disk to the config folder. i can now see the server but it still has the red circle with line through it for status. anyone to make it connectable for me??

thanks Twister for helping me solve the problem. I suggest to all that no one uses the program Black Ice...it really screws stuff up.

just like i said there... or you can dl a program that manually connect tribes with a certain server pass and all.. but have forgotten where that is i think its in tribesplayers.com under oddities or admin junk... I think not sure on this that the command line parameter for a manual connect from launching the tribes shortcut is -connect "ip:portnumber goes here"

the only sure way i know of doin is goin in tribes hit the ~ key then type this connect("IP:24.158.141.29:6969"); then hit enter and the ~ key again... the other ways ive heard about but never really tried.... if it doesnt work.. your most likley bein blocked by someing about the network... could be firewalls or access ports ect..
