Frankly runtwing, it is too hard enough to implement ships as it is. Mechs would be even harder as they have to walk across the land and don't fly. Like I said, I am making a game here that can be for fun and profit.

And if you must have a reason for them being here, what Toast said.

ok...I'll think up a storyline of how they got here:

137 years after the largest boom in ship sales since the federation was formed, all known galaxys within the core were descovered. This was bad for the illegal houses, because now that the land was bought, the federation could herd the sheep up. 7 years before the final core sector was descovered, Viliano Marik (Josepi's grandfather) invested a fair amount of his funding into a privately owned ship R&D company, which had it's name changed to MRD (Marik research and development). The company used the funds to construct a supercomputer, known as A.R.M.S. (Aerodynamic Research Maintaining System). This system ran all of the current shipdrives and navigational computers through countless tests, from gravitational density compactment to implosion variability. It's goal was to find a flaw in any system and fix it, after which The Marik House would sell the updated version for outrageous prices. After 10 years of minor ajustments to current systems, MRD hired maintnence men to fine tune A.R.M.S. One of them was William Fenshold, who in reality was a rookie looking for a high paying job. MRD mistook him for an expert in his field and put him to work on the A.R.M.S. Realizing that the system would go for infinite prices on the black market, William attempted to install a back door program that would let him retrieve system specs anywhere. He could have been a trillionair, but a minor flaw cause him to be the reason Keldrinia was descovered. As he attempted to add the back door in, he made the mistake of modifying an engine setting in the simulator. One year later, at about 6:30 AM, A.R.M.S. ran the engine through a hyperdrive test and printed out the results. A scientist, one of the most loyal to the Marik family, picked up the paper, noticing that the system had detected a flaw in a current engine. After reading the paper, he descovered the flaw was that an engine the system thought existed skipped solar systems when jumping! The scientist quickly had a meeting with Viliano, and they came to a decision. They were going to develop the engine A.R.M.S. thought existed. 26 years into the project, Viliano died, and Thomosiao Marik aired to the owner of the family company. He continued the project under his father's wishes, and 34 years after he was promoted, 50 years in the making, a prototype was constructed. By this time, the federation had forced the illegal houses into 6 sectors, and were going to sweep the mess up, thus making them ruler of known space. The MRD installed the new engine, called the AP-26 (ARMS Project 26 {The time it had been in the making when Viliano died}) into a research vessel modified to withstand prolonged hyperspace. MRD slipped past through the federation's boundries, to the edge of known space. They planned that, if the engine would skip solar systems, could it skip the wall of known space, and possibly enter another dimension? A void? Wherever it went, they would be able to moniter. The research vessel lifted off 3 years after it was completed, and headed to the unknown "wall" of space. The engine, built over 50 years, worth 800 trillion credits, created a one exit gate, and disappeared.

The engine was lost in the hypergate of known reasons, and the Marik house nearly went broke. News of the blunder spread throughtout the black market, and Marik lost 90% of it's costomers. The A.R.M.S. computer was placed in storage, only because they couldn't afford the power to run it. MRD was removed from the house, all it's scientists assinated for fear they would give the specs of A.R.M.S. to a competiter. Thomosio comitted suicide for his mistakes, and his son Josepi inheritted what was left of the house. Josepi went into hiding, because even if your great great grandfather comitted a crime, your family was branded criminals to the federation. He decided he would commit suicide too, but before he did, he would find the engine and descover why it had failed.

14 years after Marik house lost it's riches, Josepi constructed a small rickety ship with his own bare hands, which would track the last co-ordinates of the AP-26, and hyperspace there. He boarded the ship, send a digi-mail to his family saying he loved them, and lifted off. He flew to the location where the hypergate had opened, and re-opened it. He stared at the Chrome whirlpool rift, cried a single tear, and flew into it.

Although it seemed like a second to him, the hyperjump took 74 years. He hadn't aged a minute, but, unknown to him, The marik house had been wiped off the map, the other houses were going bankrupt, and the federation ruled everything. Drifting in space, Josepi drained his rations, searching through space for a hunk of scrap, a computer log, anything that would tell him what happened.

The first thing he noticed was space was almost completely clean. This would make finding a piece of scrap easier, but it also told him that nothing as advanced as his race was out there. He also noticed that all of the planets he flew close to were still being formed, telling him this universe was newly manifested (The big bang theory had been forgotten, scientists had descovered space split similar to a cell years before even Viliano was born). Almost out of rations, Josepi lost all hope. One day, he simply went to sleep.

When Josepi woke up, he descovered he wasn't drifting anymore. "Oh no, I'm on one of the newly formed planets, If I leave the ship, I'll be burnt to a crisp. Thank God for these heat proof panels" was the first thought that came to his head. The second thought was "This must be what happened to the engine...a crash landing on a magma sphere, melting into nothingness". He wanted to send any life out in this universe a message of what happened, so he composed a comm., and sent it out. To his extreme suprise (he nearly had a heart attack), his message was stopped by an atmosphere. If only his ship had windows, he could have seen where he was. He opened the airlock of his ship up, and stepped into the natural light he hadn't seen for so long. He was on a lush planet, abundant in fruit and tropical in weather. He rejoiced for days, eating this fruit, not caring if it was poisoned. All he had eaten before was freeze dried mush that he assumed was meat, and ate a field of the fruit. Then it came to him.

A FIELD??? WHAT HAD A FIELD BEEN DOING ON AN UNINHABITIED, NEWLY FORMED PLANET??? Or was it uninhabited? His first assumption was hostile natives, but noticing how carefully tended the field was, he decided they were in their version of the "iron age". He searched the field, and eventually found an abandoned hut. The walls of the hut were covered on primative drawings of mountains, and a drawing of a large metal container. A dome of metal build on three tri-piston legs outfitted with an AP-26. The vesell.

Josepi ran back to his ship, and mended the broken parts with a strange wood in the trees. It didn't matter to him wether the ship had holes in it; he wouldn't go into space with the wreck anyway. All he had to do was find the research vessel, which had been depicted at the side of an ocean.

He cloaked and flew accross the planet, but oddly enough, he found no towns. He did run across the occasional abandoned house or graveyard, but nothing was in them that gave him clues to the ship. He lived on the fruits he found, which were similar to his home universe's cantolopes, and the water of the planet. The strange thing about the water was it glowed brightly, and made an excelent, clean-burning fuel for his ship. After 3 years, he came to the ocean.

"This planet is too damn big for me to search it, this had better be the right ocean" He mumbled as he searched for the vessel. 6 years of beach-combing later, he found it. It was in amazingly good condition, some areas of the paint still glittering. He dug almost all of the ship out with a seashell, and found out his ship was, indeed, not in perfect condition. He found the chassis had been scraped into symbols and pictures of people praying, and a large black monster, living in ruins of some sort. He didn't care about the chassis though, because he had one idea on his mind: Get home. He filled the ship up with salt water, which was, oddly, 10 times as potent as the planets fresh water, lifted off, and flew off, hypering back to his home sector.

He returned only 5 years after he began hyperjump this time. He descovered none of the houses existed anymore, that the federation had seased control of everything. His new goal was to find the one thing that could help him: The A.R.M.S. terminal.

He asked around for information on the fall of the Marik family, sure that no one wwas alive to recognize him. People eventually told him that when the federation took control of the Marik house HQ, They found only old computers, except for a supercomputer they didn't show to the public. They later found out the code of it was the most highly encrypted technology around, even after the amount of time that had passed, so they simply had a garbage ship drop it into a sewar system. Josepi later found which sewar system it was: The Federation's main sewar system, located in the center of the universe.

Josepi Walked right in to the Federation's main building, after stealing a worker's clothes and beating him to death. He found his way to the maintence hatch of the sewar system, and jumped in. He would regret this for a while.

Josepi roamed in the sewars for days. He longed for the cantalopes on that unknown planet, forced to eat the feces floating around. The sewars wasn't know as the "ultimate maze" for nothing either. He eventually was forced to mark his path with pieces of his clothes. By the time he found A.R.M.S., he was ass naked and walking up to his elbows in fecal matter, although he had consumed maybe a metric ton of it. His prize didn't seem worth it, either. It was mostly in small segments, but the federation had stupidly thrown the manual down also. Within days, Josepi had build a dam make of hardened crap, to keep the liquid from enturupting his work. He occasionally went of to the surface, completely nude, to find extension wires. He finally, after days of wantering the streets bare, made a wire long enough to reace a surface plag, allowing him to run A.R.M.S. He spent days searching the code for the engine specs, stealing things from houses on the surface in his spare time. By the time he had written the AP-26 specs, he had a wardrobe and gained knowladge of advanced coding. He abandoned the A.R.M.S. terminal with boxes full of clothes and a few scribbles on paper of the AP-26.

He sold any extra clothes he had, and suprisingly rented an apartment. Using the extra money he had, he found what was left of the black market, and purchased a faxe identity. He was now Bill Mihtina , a hispanic male who had graduated with a PHD in electronics. He was hired by the Federation 4 years after he came back to his universe to research new federation ships. He gained many friends, and told them the truth about his identity. None of them believed him, but after looking at the AP-26 specs, they aggreed to pool their money together and form the MRC, Marik Ressurection Corperation. To the outside, it was the VDA, Vehicle Development Assoiciation. The company ran under the rules of Josepi, and eventually build 3 AP-26 clones. The clones were de-engineered (picked apart to see how they worked better), and an easy way to mass prodece them was descovered. Soon, Josepi had bought a factory, and was storing the engines in a warehouse. His plan would go into action, he thought.

His team researched more effective chasses, and built for the AP-26, an unusual design known as the "Blood Eagle". He was at the condition of the Marik house in it's prime, so he renamed his company to MRA, and started the Marik house over.The rest of the other houses' hiding decendants soon caught on, and soon, the houses were back in their prime.

Josepi put together a fleet of 500 Blood eagles, and hired the most skilled black market pilots to fly them. He sent them all through the warpgate, and they colonized the other universe. Several Pilots leaked information of the gate, so now, the engine is common, and everyone can get to the new universe with the proper funding and connections. There's even rumors of a race of humanoids found on the origional planet, which have mastered a thing called "magic". Some say the most skilled "Wizards" and "Warriors" are beging hired to help produce and even buy their own ships in that sector, but those are only rrumors, how could they possibly be true?

Uh... no... sorry.. wont work..

1. With all this brand new technology coming into the universe, we would have gained higher technology ie. guns, lasers, engines, ect.
2. It's reaaaaly pointless to put much rp behind this because
A. Mages wouldve studied the AP-26, furthering technology (see /\)
or
B. Fighters, being the way they are, wouldve hit it with many large sharp things, utterly destroying it.
3. These people from other planets probably had diseases and wouldve wiped out populations of people who were not immune.

solutions to those questions (which you have to friking even ask, took me an hour to think that up!):
#1. The Ring of mediaval people allowed to use this is a very secret society of the highest of intelegent being on keldrinia, which have been taught the stuff, are are only picked out of crowds by discuised Marik/whatever company needs workers people.

3. The people from the highly advanced universe cured most of the diseases out there, and are immune to most of the diseases in keldrinia (they are both humanoids...their universes are parallel, think about it...

1. They would simply import workers, people from their own universe are easier to deal with, higher intelligence.
2. A.You dont just see starships popping outta the sky, landing, people come talk to you, and not learn anything.
B. Fighters always hit things with long sharp objects. Fact of Life.
3. They cured the diseases, and immunizations are smaller forms of an actual virus. Now why do you suppose.. when the Europeans visited the carribeans many of the natives got sick? Because they hadnt been exposed to those germs before..... and they had no immunity. More likely than not the "paralell universe"'s medical techniques are extremely different from each other.


People dont just see starships come streaking out of the sky and shrug it off. Everyone would be interested in it as an omen, a god, ect.

Erm, how about this storyline....

A short time ago, a great light appeared in our skys. Us elders knew not what could cause such a sight, save only for strong magic. The light was rapidly descending and growing brighter, and thus was the Keldrin Guard sent to discover the meaning in this.

When they arrived to the point at which the light had reached earth, they found a large rock of some metal harder than a sword, and with many strange markings and objects upon its surface.

After a short time, men in strange clothing came from a cleverly made hole in the side of the rock, and spoke to us in a strange language. The fighters were confused, for this man was unarmed, but did carry some strange objects. The learned men of the city were sent for, and they learned that the men were from a place far away, which they called Earth, and that they had come here with problems in the strange means of conveyance, which they called a spaceship. Evidently more men would come to assist them. Much was learned of the language and culture of these men from the stars, and they took with them several pieces of rock.

Before long, a larger ship had returned, bearing more men from beyond the stars. These men were interested in some of our minerals, especially the rare ones, such as gold and keldrinite. They also expressed a desire for certain gems such as emeralds. Our elders were shrewd enough to realize that these men would give many things for such rare and valuable items. Weapons the men would not give, and many items which they had, we could not use in our cities, being of different manufacture than that of the space-men. However, ships they would sell us, but for high prices. Certain wealthy men did purchase these ships for great sums, and even two floating buildings which were used for the spaceships. What will be done with with these, we do not know...

Selling ships to medieval people would be useless. Only high learned people, not necessarily rich people, could begin to grasp the concept of time-space, and basic ship functions. We are talking about technology so advanced they can go to paralell universes..


Just stop rping it and make it into a quest-thing.

ok...here's the dead: The universes are parallel! That means they are the same in essence! The only differences are the universe keldrinia is on is younger, which is why people there are still running with knives and the reason the warriors don't hit things with pointy objects is
1. No lowly warrior knows about the ships. Only the highest warriors can be invilved with them
2. Any high level warrior that pokes the ship with a pointy object is either roasted in a 100,000 gigawatt energy beam, or shot off into space inside a trash can sized escape pod

Now the reason people haven't noticed ships falling from the sky is

1. They DID notice the origional AP-26 fall from the sky, and they carved the chassis into symbols. When Josepi found it, however, it was submerged in the beach sand. Also remember that a lot of time passed from the origional loss of the AP-26 and Josepi's voyage. When the keldrinians found the ship, they were cavemen. They thought it was a big rock.

2. Josepi didn't want all his ships whittles by some crazy fanatics, so he took cloaking technology, which had been abandoned in his universe because of advanced scanners. They didn't have scanners in the keldrinia universe, so he put the cloaking technology to use. Now ships that fly are cloaked, so no one sees them. This doesn't mean I won't add to the storyline the descovery of a ship, though...

They dont give us the weaps, we must get them by doing some *ahem* dealing in space.

Yeah, it's just a quest... but a fun, persistant, one. and anything persistant tends to need at least a superficial explanation.

The men are from the federation, and don't want more arms proliferation. However, the different houses see nothing wrong with trading weaps for cash. After all, thats what they do all the time...

Yes it is a quest of sorts, but a persistant one as DM pointed out, and persistant ones need explainations.

Runtwing, your story is very clever and well thought out, yet it neglects some of the more important factors. (it is obvious which house you favor ) The houses don't really own territory, the operate under the Federation. They own pieces of the black market under the Federation. While they do have some headquarters and stuff like that on planets, simple bribes and payoffs to suceptable individuals keep things under wraps. You also neglect the Coran, the most visible opponets to the Federation. There is a Core sector of the galaxy, but there are also uncontrolled tidbits, that the Coran usually takes over.

Also the ships are designed by the five main shipping companies. Usually they do thier best to avoid trade with the Houses, as it attracts attention from the Federation.

As far as how spaceflight came to Uberprime? and to the land of Keldrania? I like DM's idea, and runtwing's Idea is not without weight as well, but Mog is right the diseases of us primative people would hurt the more technologically advanced... Eh you are free to speculate.

Actually postal i was thinking the "more technically advanced people" would have more diseases than us, because A. They have been exposed to many more people due to the fact of spacetravel, and B. We "primitive" peoples have not had the chance to grow immune to many diseases, only the ones we know of. Thank you for pointing out it could work the other way too.

House Sellenton

Another of the lesser houses, House Sellenton is based more on the sale of illegal, but unharmful weapons. They deal primarilly in delicasies made illegal by the Federation. They do not deal in arms, nor in drugs, so the Federation doesn't consider them a large threat. Most of the time they are completely overlooked.

House Ward
Leader: Phelan Ward
This is the house that is most hidden, it is a minor house only by reputation. No one knows for sure exactly how big House Ward is. It is very secrative and seems to deal primarily in one thing, information. You will not find House Ward, it will find you.

Big names in smuggling
Here are some of the people that are involved in smuggling. Should you run into them you might find that they have connections, or information about getting into the smuggling business.

Kenton Bohr- Well known smuggler, and well liked. Works for House Karuta

Serilis Whal- Another familiar face, he was the last winner of the individual space race, and has used that reputation to further himself in the black market and in the open market as well.

Hollz- No other name is know for this notorious bounty hunter. If he is chasing you, then you know that someone is playing top dollar for your head. Don't you feel special...


Hrm... Maybe I should make an individual thread with all this info... that way it is easier to go through...
