I have noticed PL goes rocketing when certain things happen.
One of them you guys can solve. make sure your connection is set to MODEM. If youset it to T1+ you will lag the server to crap. Also 28.8k will get you pl but not anyone else. If you have one of those buy a 56k.

IF everyone sets their connection to modem you will have cleaner and more fun gameplay. Thank you.

actually... you can make it even better by goining to Options - Network and setting the packet size to 150 and packet rate to 80... I know for a packt that this is playable and will not make the gameplay choppy... or better yet... experiment with it and find the lowest you can go without making it choppy.... thanx everyone.

PS. once I get my new comp w/ a good gfx card, I'll try to experiment with it and make a little prog that will optimize your Tribes connection... I have everything on my site but I need to host the site somewhere so be fool around w/ it and I will get the figures eventually.

I meant 8, not 80 for packet rate... need sleep... and make it 7, not 8... 7 is definately playable.

Yes please people if you have major PL it really affects my bandwith and therefor other ppls playing

Um in server settings if you add the following lines to like autoexec or rpgserv or whatever you use

$pref::PacketRate = "10";
$pref::PacketSize = "200";

Or whatever settings you want, that will be the maximum that a player can use...

don't set it too low... just try the modem default first then if it needs further tweaking do so...

possibly... but modem default should be fine. if it still needs to be turned down then do so...

or just set it all to modem default (which would help things but not hurt things at all)
