I carry a small combat knife nearly always, and Im rather good with it. :-)

I used to be lousy at unarmed combat, but I've been getting much better recently, due mainly to wieght training and practice. I already had the reflexes. :-)

I had a duel with someone (just for practice) who is roughly 2.5 times as strong as me, and it came out as a draw, unarmed, since he couldn't hit me....I block too fast, even when I was only using one arm. It was rather cool, especially since he used to be able to trash me.

Frankly, I could care less about stalkers.

I tend to carry a 3 and 1/8 inch (blade length) folding knife in a sheath at my side. My problem is it takes me 2 seconds to get it out and unfolded. (I open it with one hand, it has a peg so all you have to do is flip it out.) Problem is, 2 seconds is too long. I need to get it down to under a second if I want to be able to get it out fast enough. I can use it fairly well.

I am fast in the blocking part, and my reflexes are good, but my overall skill in simple unarmed combat is severely lacking. My punches are accurate, but slow to recover, and a I am so inflexible, my kicks are sloppy and slow. Hence, the reason that I carry the knife.
